Synopsis

While searching for Indian artifacts in the Florida Everglades, Ed Tison, his wife, Julie, and four archeology students chance upon the burial mound of Tartu, a Seminole witch doctor. Four hundred years ago, Tartu had placed a curse on his grave, vowing that if anyone ever disturbed it, he would return and kill the desecrators of his final resting place. The legend becomes a reality when Tartu comes to life and takes the lives of the four students by transforming himself into a shark, a snake, and an alligator. The Tisons decide that their only hope of survival is to pry open Tartu's coffin and destroy his remains. When they do so, however, Tartu appears as a young Indian warrior and immediately engages Ed in a death struggle. But Ed knocks him into a pit of quicksand, thus fulfilling the prophesy that Tartu could only be destroyed by the forces of nature.
