Synopsis

Pretty young New York secretary Carol Blane falls in love with handsome steelworker Bart Kingdon, despite the advice of her girl friend, Diane Ware, who encourages Carol to pursue her married boss, Steven Garron, instead. The day of Carol and Bart's wedding, Bart is called to the deathbed of his estranged father, the wealthy Dan Kingdon, who unexpectedly leaves the family business to the struggling couple. Shortly after Bart takes over the business, his father's secretary, Miss Baldwin, resigns to get married, and at Carol's suggestion, Bart hires Diane. Although Bart's Aunt Agatha warns Carol that she is a fool to allow her husband to have such an attractive secretary, Carol is confident of Bart's love. When Bart starts to work longer hours, however, Carol becomes convinced that she is losing her husband. When a business trip to a secluded cabin in the Oregon woods is cancelled, Diane keeps the news from Bart and uses the opportunity to go away alone with him. After a talk with Agatha, Carol now suspects Diane's designs on her husband. She follows Bart and Diane to Oregon, but after a fight with Diane, leaves them alone. Meanwhile, a forest fire is heading toward the cabin, and when Bart and Diane attempt to escape, he is knocked unconscious. Diane deserts him, but meets Carol, who forces her to return through the blaze to find Bart. Carol and Diane reach Bart in time to save him from certain death. Bart rehires his former secretary, and he and Carol are reconciled.
