Synopsis

Using a pseudonym, Buck Roberts, one of three U.S. Marshals known as the Rough Riders, rides into Border City near the Mexican border to determine who killed one of his fellow Marshals. Buck cooperates with the robbers who attack his stagecoach and kill its drivers, and induces his fellow passengers, Rosita and Maria Garcia, to turn over their family jewels. His partner, Colonel Tim McCall, in the meantime, has arrived in Border City and makes contact with their third partner, Sandy, who has been working undercover in the saloon pushing a mop. Buck and Tim meet to discuss their suspicion that someone at the Garcia ranch is working with the robbers, and, based on Sandy's information, that the saloon owner, Ed Scully, may also be involved. Buck impersonates a well-known "fence" and lets it be known that the robbers will have to deal with him if they plan to sell the Garcia jewels. Tim, meanwhile, represents a cattle buyer and stays at the Garcia ranch. Unknown to the Rough Riders, the Garcia ranch foreman, Joe Collins, who is in love with Rosita, has been working with the robbers, who also rustle cattle, and, with Joe's help, hides the robbers on a corner of the Garcia ranch. When he tries to pull out because of the jewel theft, Slade, who murdered the Marshal and runs the thieving gang with Scully, shoots Joe. That same night, Buck is arrested by the sheriff when he is caught rustling some cattle with the gang, but Scully escapes and learns Buck's true identity. Buck, who is working with the sheriff, pretends to break out of jail and shoots Slade during a confrontation. He then goes after Scully, while Tim joins Sandy to capture the rest of the bandits. After the outlaws are brought to justice, the jewels are restored to the Garcia ranch, and Joe recovers and reforms. The Rough Riders then leave for their separate ranches.
