Synopsis

Director Hans-Jurgen Syberberg presents an inventive take on Richard Wagner's final opera, as performed by the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra with Armin Jordan conducting. Rather than a conventional filmed opera performance, Syberberg represents Wagner's retelling of the myth of King Arthur and the Holy Grail through an allusive blend of mixed media that refers to the composer's political and psychosexual leanings, as well as the co-option of his work by the Nazis after his death.
