Synopsis

Hard-working Pete lost his wife to cancer two years ago and is hard-pressed to raise his three kids single-handedly. His daughter, Frankie, is a nature enthusiast who is enchanted when a pair of trumpeter swans nest on the pond nearby her house. However, when the mother swan is killed, wildlife biologist Ginny arrives on the scene to take charge of her eggs. Although Ginny and Pete initially clash over the treatment of the swans, they eventually fall in love. But Ginny chooses her career over Pete, and when she leaves to follow the migrating swans, the entire Peterson family is crushed over her departure. However, when Frankie goes searching for a cygnet that has gotten lost in the migration, Ginny and Pete come back together and mount a frantic search for the missing child. But the temperature is dropping, it's getting dark, and time is running out...
