When Duncan Mayor's beloved wife, Suzy, returns home from the hospital, he decides to surprise her with a nostalgic Christmas present - a 45-foot-high, used Ferris wheel that he plans to assemble in the backyard of their Conway, South Carolina home. While an uptight neighbor protests that the monstrosity will ruin her chance to win an upscale magazine's "Christmas Showcase" contest, love blossoms between Suzy's nurse, Natalie, and landscape designer Tommy, who helps Duncan construct this touching, amusement-park-monument to his wife, commemorating the place that he proposed to her so many years ago.
