Synopsis

A documentary examining the on-going struggle between loggers and environmentalists over the ancient forests of the Pacific Northwest. These forests lie on private lands or on government lands that are outside the U.S. National Parks system (which includes such areas as Sequoia National Park or Muir Woods, preserves in California where giant redwoods are protected from destruction). Hence, even though many of the trees are as much as a thousand years old and among the oldest living things on Earth, logging companies argue the forests are and ought to be theirs for the taking.
