Synopsis
The three Carboni brothers struggle to escape poverty in New York's Hell's Kitchen during the 1940s. Victor is a brawny iceman, Lenny an injured war veteran, and Cosmo is a slick con man. Cosmo decides that their best bet to get out of the slums is Victor's strength and talks his slow-witted brother into participating in a series of punishing wrestling matches. As Victor begins to have some success as "Kid Salami," his rise to the top is threatened by a local gangster who schedules a 22-round fight between him and his vicious wrestler, "Frankie the Thumper."
