Synopsis

In the 1920's, Frank McCandless crashlands his plane on the Oklahoma farm run by Ann Evans, whose father was killed in an oil field accident. Frank, attracted to Ann, realizes the land is oil rich, so he sells his plane and leases the property for drilling. With additional money borrowed from Julie, the girl friend of his long-time buddy, Jericho, they begin drilling, but the oil fails to appear. Julie, a nightclub singer, is tired of waiting for Jericho to marry her and weds Frank's enemy and ex-employer, Chick Carrington, a ruthless oil promoter who needs a wife to further his political ambitions. When Jericho and Frank try for another strike, Carrington tries to dynamite their equipment, but Frank brings the sheriff and forces Carrington to use the explosive to shoot the well. The black gold gushes forth, and Ann joins Frank in his search for new oil fields.
