Synopsis

Caroline, the daughter of a wealthy Vancouver businessman, moves to Quebec after completing university studies in French and pursues an affair with Marc, a French-Canadian actor. Peter, her ex-lover, arrives in the hopes of persuading Caroline to marry him. The three spend Christmas with Marc's family, and upon their return to Quebec Caroline learns that her father, Stephen, to whom she is greatly attached, plans to marry a college friend of hers. Peter, Caroline, and Marc fly to Vancouver for the engagement party, and it becomes apparent to the two men that Caroline's attachment to her father prevents her from loving either of them. Caroline's continued vacillation causes both men to leave her, and she rejects her father's offer of sympathy and walks off alone.
