Three unemployed Vietnam veterans are desperate for money and turn to bank robbery. Two of them are captured during their getaway but the third man escapes with the money which he stashes in a mailbox. A bartender and a ditsy artist witness this. The bartender wants the money to pay off some gangsters and takes it. The artist is attracted to the veteran and decides to help him retrieve it from the bartender. Once the vet and the artist get the loot, they board an ocean liner and find that one of the passengers is the president of the bank that was robbed.
