Synopsis
Upon the death of her father, Helen Lewis inherits his business, the last independent packing company in the West. Arriving to tend the company, Helen is blinded by promises of easy profit and duped by attorney Roger Whitlock into selling her company to his clients. Unknown to Helen, Whitlock represents a gang of big business racketeers who are plotting to corner the packing house market and thus dictate beef prices to the ranchers. Luckily, cattleman Barney O'Dell realizes what Whitlock is doing, and takes over the Lewis Packing Company as chief creditor, convincing the ranchers to turn over their cattle shipments to him. When Barney refuses Whitlock's bribe to surrender the company, the lawyer hires Larkin, Dutch and Hank to wage a campaign of terror against the ranchers. To placate the frightened ranchers, Barney offers to buy their cattle, using his own ranch as collateral. The cattlemen agree to Barney's terms, and herd their cows onto his range. On the night before the cattle are to be shipped to market, Whitlock's men steal the herd, but Barney organizes his ranch hands, and after overtaking the rustlers' trucks, they reclaim their herd. The next day, after Barney's men finish loading the cattle on the train to market, the rustlers strike once again and commandeer the train. Galloping off after the cattle, Barney and his men board the train and throw the thieves off one by one, finishing with Whitlock in the caboose. Helen then realizes her folly, and with Whitlock's plot foiled, the ranchers no longer have to worry about their livelihood.
