Synopsis
Hounded by publicity seekers, Priam Farll, the greatest painter of his day, finds the anonymity he seeks by assuming the identity of his deceased valet, Henry Leek. He is ejected from Westminster Abbey for creating a disturbance during his "own" elaborate funeral, and young widow Alice Challice nurses his consequent injuries. Priam marries Alice for her meager income and grows to love her, but he cannot escape fame when he again begins to paint and a dealer identifies his work. Priam finally accepts his fate--happily, with Alice at his side.
