Biography

She may not be a household name, but anyone who has watched much television in the last couple of decades is likely to have seen Cindy Katz appearing in an episode of one of the more popular shows. She has also landed small parts in films working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including roles in "Heat" (1995), starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, "Limitles" (2011) with De Niro and Bradley Cooper, and Noah Baumbach's "Frances Ha" (2012). A working actress with an impressive theater resume, Katz has put her stage training to good use, moving effortlessly between the playhouse and the large and small screens.

After training as an actress at Yale, Katz spent two years as a Guthrie Theater resident before leaping into the world of the New York City stage and her first professional stage role in "Beau Jest," which took her to Los Angeles one year later. The move proved to be an auspicious one as small roles in television and film shortly followed, beginning with parts in "The Age of Innocence" (1993) and the Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts vehicle "I Love Trouble" (1994), as well as an appearance on UPN's "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993-1999).

In addition to landing a small part in "Heat" (1995), Katz also began appearing on a number of popular television shows including NBC's "Frasier" (1993-2004) and "Friends" (1994-2004), and UPN's "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995-2001). She continued to work on the stage as well, splitting her time between New York City and Los Angeles, and in 1999 was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for her role as Constanze in a Broadway stage production of "Amadeus."

In the 2000s, Katz landed more parts on well-known television shows including Fox's "Fringe" (2008-2013), NBC's "Law and Order" (1990-2010) and CBS's "The Good Wife" (2009-16), and her film work included "Limitless" (2011), starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, as well as Noah Baumbach's "Frances Ha" (2011). Her theater work continued as well as she worked both on and off Broadway including a part in the Mike Leigh-penned play "Two Thousand Years" in 2005. In 2012, she was cast in a production of "The Seagull," starring Calista Flockhart.
