Johnson worked in television around the start of his acting career with a role on "M*A*S*H" (CBS, 1972-1983). He additionally landed roles in the TV movies "B.J. and the Bear" (NBC, 1978-79) and "Captain America" (CBS, 1978-79). He also landed a role in the miniseries "The Last Convertible" (1979-1980). He also starred in the TV movies "The Ultimate Imposter" (1978-79), "High Midnight" (CBS, 1979-1980) and "Farrell For the People" (NBC, 1982-83). He also appeared in "Sins of the Past" (ABC, 1983-84). Johnson took on film roles in more recent years, appearing in the comedy "Real Genius" (1985) with Val Kilmer and the horror movie "Bad Dreams" (1988) with Jennifer Rubin.
