Biography

A respected stage and screen actor in his native Romania, Marcel Iures has also worked with legendary American directors like Brian De Palma and Francis Ford Coppola and shared the silver screen with Hollywood giants such as Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Nicole Kidman, George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Iures has been a fixture of Romanian cinema and theater since the 1970s, often appearing in Shakespearean productions. However, it was not until 1994 that Iures made his American film debut, when he landed a role in director Neil Jordan's graphic horror fantasy "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles." The star-studded film proved to be a critical and commercial success, and after its release, Iures found himself cast in a series of Hollywood hits, though he would continue to act in plays and films in his native country. His next role in a big-budget film came in 1996, when he appeared in De Palma's box office titan "Mission: Impossible." The following year, he had a substantial part in the tense thriller "The Peacemaker," in which he portrayed a terrorist. In the early 2000s, his resume expanded to include the military drama "Hart's War" and in 2007, he worked with Francis Ford Coppola on the offbeat fantasy drama "Youth Without Youth" and acted in the pirate blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."
