Biography

A familiar face to fans of sci-fi television, actor Gigi Edgley is best known for playing Chiana on the cult Australian series "Farscape." A native of Perth, Australia, Edgley initially pursued ballet and jazz dance before devoting herself to acting. She enrolled in a three-year course at Queensland University of Technology, where she gained valuable stage experience by performing a two-person drama for the Queensland Performing Arts Trust. Edgley made her screen debut with a small role on the 1998 made-for-TV docudrama "The Day of the Roses," which she followed up with a memorable guest appearance on the long-running Aussie drama "Water Rats." But her big break came in 1999 when she joined the cast of "Farscape." Though Edgley's character was originally slated to appear in just one episode, the actor's street-smart portrayal of renegade Nebari alien Chiana proved so popular with fans, she was written into the series on the show's second season. Edgley continued to turn in strong performances on Australian series television--most notably as paramedic Lara Knight on the medical drama "Rescue Special Ops"--and made her American TV debut with a supporting role in the 2007 comedy-drama miniseries "The Starter Wife."
