Biography

Despite battling a substance abuse problem for 10 years, actor Kene Holliday was able to land the co-starring role of private investigator Tyler Hudson on the new 1986 Andy Griffith franchise "Matlock." However, reports from the set soon made it clear that Holliday's personal demons were getting in the way of a good relationship with the iconic Griffith. By the time Holliday checked into rehab in 1989, his three seasons of work on "Matlock" were coming to an ugly end. But true to his confident nature, the former high school football star and D.C. theater veteran has never sought to make excuses for his personal behavior. He admits that his favorite vice was cognac, but says he never partook of hard drugs, partially because he witnessed first-hand in D.C. just how devastating an effect these could have on a person's life. Since his 1986-1989 run on "Matlock," Holliday has appeared now and then a in single episode of shows such as the elite NYPD detective drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "The District," a crime drama in which Newark PD Chief Jack Mannion attempts to clean up the seedy crime life of Washington, D.C., and the sisterly comedy "Hope & Faith." He has also been married three times, most recently since 1996 to Linda Copling.
