Biography
Though he appeared in a massive range of projects, many know Colin Cunningham best for his portrayal of leather-clad bad guy John Pope on the apocalyptic science fiction series "Falling Skies" (TNT, 2011-15). Born in Los Angeles in 1966, Cunningham was not drawn to acting early on. It was only after a friend dared him to attend an open casting call-where he managed to win a part-that Cunningham found himself bitten by the acting bug. He began working in repertory theater, and co-founded the Open Fist Theatre Company. He eventually traveled to British Columbia to attend Vancouver Film School where he studied directing, and henceforth began dividing his time between L.A. and Vancouver-where several American TV series are filmed. Cunningham began landing guest appearances on popular TV shows like "The X-Files" (Fox, 1993-) and "The Sentinel" (CW, 1996-99), which quickly led to starring roles on shows like "Beggars and Choosers" (Showtime, 1999-2001) and "Da Vinci's Inquest" (CBC, 1998-2006). Cunningham would also appear in feature films like "Best in Show" (2000) and "Elektra" (2005), but he would return to TV most consistently with roles on shows like "Falling Skies" and later, as TC on the indie comic adaptation "Preacher" (AMC, 2016-).
