Actor-musician Buck Clayton made a splash in Hollywood both on and off-screen for more than two decades. In 1955, he played himself in "Allen in Movieland." Clayton began his career with a role on "John Hammond: From Bessie Smith to Bruce Springsteen" (PBS, 1989-1990). Later, he acted in "Lady Day: The Many Faces of Billie Holiday" (1992-93) and "A Great Day in Harlem" (1995) with Art Blakey. Clayton's music was most recently featured in "Trumbo" (2015). Clayton passed away in December 1991 at the age of 80.
