Biography
With her role as Baylin, the tough bounty hunter from the planet Mongo, actress Karen Cliche helped bring a decidedly modern take to the classic characters and storyline of "Flash Gordon," (Sci Fi Channel, 2007-08), the latest science fiction property re-imagined for contemporary audiences. Cliche was born July 22, 1976, in Quebec, and as an army brat, moved with her family all around Canada during her childhood, still finding time to take part in plays and musicals. Her big break came when she was discovered by a professional hairdresser during her after school job at McDonald's. Cliche quickly found herself doing modeling work. After briefly studying psychology in college, she decided to act full time.
Cliche's early work included guest spots on "Undressed," (MTV, 1999-2002) and a regular role on "Mutant X" (syndicated, 2001-04) and "The Dresden Files" (Sci Fi Channel, 2007). On Canadian television, she had regular roles on several shows, including the teen horror series "Vampire High" (TYV, 2001), opposite genre favorite Michael Biehn on "Adventure, Inc.," (syndicated, 2002-03), the inside showbiz comedy "The Business," (IFC, 2006-07), and the period actioner, "Young Blades" (Pax, 2005).
