Steve Christian
Biography
Biography
In the early 2000s, Steve Christian was instrumental in bringing film productions to the Isle of Man. The self-governing territory, located between England and Ireland but largely operating outside of British law, has long functioned as a tax refuge and haven for offshore banking. The region's dramatic landscapes also serve as less expensive doubles for Scotland and Ireland. Beginning in the mid-1990s, Christian managed the Isle of Man Film and Television Fund, which provided financial incentives for productions that filmed on the island. Christian later managed CinemaNX -- a production company backed by the Isle of Man Film and Television Fund, where he served as a liaison to manage scheduling and to smooth out potential problems for film companies. Among the movies Christian helped shepherd to the Isle of Man are "Lawless Heart" (2001), "Color Me Kubrick" (2005), "Lassie" (2005), and "Miss Potter" (2006). For his trouble, Christian is often rewarded with an executive-producer credit.
