Biography
Writer, director, and producer Kevin Burns is best known for his work on documentaries and reality television. After graduating from Boston University's film program, his thesis film "I Remember Barbra" won a Student Academy Award. His irreverent documentary about residents of the neighborhood where Barbra Streisand grew up helped open doors for him, and after moving to Los Angeles, he became a producer at 20th Century Fox Television. While there, he produced several installments of the sci-fi movie series "Alien Nation." He also met Jon Jashni at Fox, and together they formed Synthesis Entertainment. They developed projects based on the work of producer Irwin Allen, including a pilot of the sci-fi show "Time Tunnel" and the film remake "Poseidon." Burns also began producing reality TV shows and documentaries, most notably "The Girls Next Door," a series about Playboy playmates and over a decade's worth of episodes of the popular "Biography" series. He is also known for producing documentaries about the film industry, including "Rodgers & Hammerstein: The Sound of Movies," the special effects themed "Monsterama" series and the Emmy-nominated "Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed." Burns also wrote and directed episodes of "Biography" as well as several other projects he produced.
