Biography

A key contributor to the acclaimed HBO drama series "The Sopranos," Mitchell Burgess is an American TV writer and produce. Burgess got his show-business start writing for the earnest Alaska-set comedy/drama "Northern Exposure," and, between 1992 and '95, he wrote numerous episodes of the popular show. Subsequently, Burgess penned an episode of "American Gothic," and contributed to the short-lived '96 series "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" as both a writer and producer. After working on a few episodes of "Party of Five," Burgess became involved in the revered mob drama "The Sopranos" as a writer and an executive producer. Penning more than 20 episodes of the award-winning series, often with his wife, Robin Green, Burgess went on to co-create the 2010 police series "Blue Bloods" with his spouse, and together they wrote the show's well-received pilot. Burgess has also worked on another cop show, "Southland," as both a writer and an executive consultant.
