Biography

Veteran soap-opera actor Jerry Ayres started out with a guest appearance on the Richard Chamberlain medical drama "Dr. Kildare" in 1966. He made an appearance on the well-regarded war show "Combat!" before starring in two episodes of the original "Star Trek" series, "Arena" and "Obsession," both in 1967. Ayres made several appearances on the procedural drama "The F.B.I.," and in 1974 made an ill-fated trip to the big screen when he played Bunny in the disastrous Lucille Ball movie version of "Mame." Ayres returned to television for mystery shows like "Barnaby Jones" and "The Rockford Files," but began to find his niche in soap operas in the late 1970s, first on "General Hospital" and then in a recurring role on the wildly popular nighttime soap "Dynasty," where he played the character of Tom for seven episodes. After that, Ayres found work on several episodes of the daytime soap "The Bold and the Beautiful" from 1987 to 1988.
