Elizabeth Berrington
Biography
Biography
A consummate professional, Elizabeth Berrington is an accomplished television and film actress beloved by audiences, even though she has rarely been seen in a starring role. Though the British actress never really got what one would call a big break, Berrington got her start in the industry working with legendary writer/filmmaker Mike Leigh, who cast her as the waitress Giselle in his internationally acclaimed 1993 drama, "Naked." Berrington and Leigh would work together again in 1996, when she played the role of Jane in his Oscar-winning film "Secrets & Lies." Since then, Berrington has played roles in numerous British television shows, including performances as Marie Antoinette in the sitcom "Let Them Eat Cake," and parts in the popular series "The Office" and "Doctor Who." While she is mostly known for her television work, Berrington has appeared in her fair share of films, sharing screen time with the likes of Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes in the 2008 black comedy "In Bruges," and acting alongside Emma Thompson in "Nanny McPhee." Given her working relationship with Mike Leigh, it should come as no surprise that one of Berrington's rare leading roles would come in Leigh's London stage production of "Abigail's Party" in 2002.
