Best known for his role on FOX's critically acclaimed terrorist drama "24," actor Carlos Bernard was born October 12, 1962, in Evanston, Illinois. After graduating from Illinois State University, Bernard attended the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco to further sharpen his acting skills. After appearing in stage productions, he quickly landed guest parts in several television shows before becoming a regular on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless." It was 2001 that brought him his breakout role as Tony Almeida, however, the right-hand man of Keifer Sutherland's rogue agent Jack Bauer, becoming Bauer's voice of reason and developing a storybook romance with fellow agent Michelle Dessler. Almeida would quickly become a fan favorite. Bernard would play this role for five seasons, earning two Screen Actors Guild nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and reprising the role in 2009 following his departure from the series. Bernard has also recurred on the ABC crime caper "Scoundrels." He and his wife have one daughter.
