Gina Bellman
Biography
Biography
Actress Gina Bellman moved to England with her family at age 11. In the U.K., she pursued acting and landed her first television role in 1982 in the family fantasy series "Into the Labyrinth." She managed a few more television appearances before breaking through to British audiences with her role on the sexually charged miniseries "Blackeyes," where she played the title character, a model whose decline is marked by run-ins with bad men. The project proved controversial because of its raw display of lust, abuse, and sexuality. But none of this hurt Bellman's career, as she went on to work steadily in film and TV through the '90s. In 2000, she was cast as the self-obsessed Jane in the sitcom "Coupling." The show lasted four seasons, and drew notice in the United States, resulting in an American remake. While stateside audiences took poorly to the re-launch, which did not include Bellman, she made her way to American TV in 2008 as Sophie Devereaux, the British grifter of TNT's "Leverage," and earned a Saturn Award nomination for her work.
