Freedman had an early acting career in film, appearing in such titles as "The Last American Virgin" (1982) with Lawrence Monoson, "Crossroads" (1986) with Ralph Macchio and "Ratboy" (1986) with Sondra Locke. She also appeared in the action movie "Hero and the Terror" (1988) with Chuck Norris and the comedy "The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad!" (1988) with Priscilla Presley. She worked in series television while getting her start in acting, including a part on "Joanie Loves Chachi" (ABC, 1981-83). Her passion for acting continued to her roles in projects like the comedy "You Can't Hurry Love" (1988) with David Leisure and "The Fabulous Baker Boys" (1989). Her work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation" (Fox, 1991-92). She shifted from film to television work through the nineties, appearing on "Goode Behavior" (1996-97), "Common Law" (ABC, 1996-97) and "Profiler" (1996-2000).
