Which led to his penning the Ridley Scott thriller "Someone to Watch Over Me" (1987). Franklin made his directorial debut as co-director with Bill Murray on the comedy, "Quick Change" (1990). Franklin made his solo directorial debut with "The Public Eye" (1992), a stylized period portrait of a tabloid photographer starring Joe Pesci and Barbara Hershey.
