Adams's acting career began mostly with his roles in various films, such as the horror film "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984) with Ronee Blakley, the Jean-Claude van Damme action picture "Lionheart" (1991) and "The Arc" (1991). He also appeared in the TV movie "Thunder Boat Row" (ABC, 1989-1990). He worked in series television while getting his start in acting, including a part on "Beverly Hills 90210" (Fox, 1990-2000). His film career continued throughout the nineties in productions like "Original Intent" (1992) with Jay Richardson, "I'll Love You Forever... Tonight" (1993) and the Gordon Currie fantasy sequel "Puppet Master 4" (1993). He continued to work steadily in television throughout the nineties, appearing on "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" (CBS, 1992-98) and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1992-99). His work around this time also included a part on the TV movie "The Stranger" (HBO, 1994-95).
