Biography
Born in Berkeley, California, Elizabeth Devine studied biology at UCLA in the early 1980s before turning to criminalistics for her master's degree at California State University. She later interned at the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office and was hired by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department as a criminalist. She eventually became a crime scene investigator and worked on some of the most sensational murder cases in Los Angeles, such as the Menendez brothers case and the killing of model/actress Linda Sobek. Fifteen years working in criminalistics would serve her well when she was hired in 2000 as a technical consultant for the first season of a new crime procedural program, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." Later that season, under the name Tish McCarthy, she co-wrote three episodes, one of which was nominated for a Writers Guild of America award. She was later named a co-producer on the show and became a co-producer and writer on the spinoff "CSI: Miami."
