He began his acting career with roles in the series "The Hughleys" (1998-2002), "The Fighting Fitzgeralds" (NBC, 2000-01) and "According to Jim" (ABC, 2001-09). During the early stages of his Hollywood career, Moynihan mainly held acting roles in films like the musical comedy "A Mighty Wind" (2003) with Bob Balaban. Moynihan also lent his vocal talents to "Gary & Mike" (UPN, 2000-01). In the early 2000s, he shifted his entertainment career towards more dramatic roles, appearing on "Boston Legal" (2004-09), "House" (Fox, 2004-2012) and "Psych" (USA, 2005-2014).
