Biography
Michael McCarty was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. McCarty kickstarted his acting career appearing on various television sitcoms, including "Bob" (CBS, 1992-94) and "Johnny Bago" (CBS, 1992-93). He also appeared in the TV movie "Orpheus Descending" (TNT, 1990-91). He had an early role on the television special "Show Boat" (PBS, 1989-1990). He then appeared in "Speechless" (1994) with Michael Keaton, the documentary "The Haunted World of Edward D. Wood Jr." (1995) with Maila Nurmi and the Christina Ricci box office smash fantastical comedy "Casper" (1995). He also appeared in "Dunston Checks In" (1996) with Jason Alexander. McCarty's more recent roles included "Dead Man" (1996), the Brendan Fraser comedic adventure "Dudley Do-Right" (1999) and "The Legend of Bagger Vance" (2000). He also worked in television during these years, including roles in "Homeboys in Outer Space" (UPN, 1996-97) and "Smart Guy" (1996-99). McCarty last acted on "Eastwick" (ABC, 2009-2010). McCarty passed away in September 2014 at the age of 68.
