Arata began his acting career appearing mainly in films, such as "Crazy in Alabama" (1999), the Burt Reynolds noir "Tempted" (2003) and the John Cusack dramatic adaptation "Runaway Jury" (2003). He worked in television in his early acting career as well, including parts on "Orleans" (CBS, 1996-97) and "The Fugitive" (CBS, 2000-01). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the early 2000s, appearing in the dramatic musical "Ray" (2004) with Jamie Foxx, the drama "At Last" (2006) with Martin Donovan and the romantic sci-fi "Deja Vu" (2006) with Denzel Washington. Most recently, Arata produced the Anton Yelchin supernatural "Odd Thomas" (2013).
