Biography

An accomplished film actor, Paul Provenza brought laughter to countless audiences while playing various roles over the course of his Hollywood career. In 2001, he co-starred with Susan Blakely in the premiere of the play "Diva" at La Jolla Playhouse. He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Blue Jeans" (1979-1980), "The Fact" (CBS, 1982-83) and "Back Together" (CBS, 1983-84). He also acted in various film roles at the time, appearing in "Odd Jobs" (1987) with Paul Reiser and "Survival Quest" (1989). He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "London Underground" (Comedy Central, 1990-93). He also appeared in the Tommy Davidson comedy "Strictly Business" (1991). during these yearsHe also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Paul Provenza: The Incredible Man-Boy" (Showtime, 1990-91) and "Free to Laugh: A Comedy and Music Special For Amnesty International" (Lifetime, 1991-92). Provenza was nominated for an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series Screen Actors Guild Award for "Northern Exposure" in 1995. Provenza focused on film in more recent years, appearing in "Nothing Sacred" (1997), the Julie Brown comedy "Plump Fiction" (1998) and the comedy "Ted" (1999) with Daniel Passer. He also appeared in "The Hungry Bachelors Club" (1999) and "Fixing Frank" (2005) with Dan Butler. Provenza most recently appeared in "Back From Hell: A Tribute to Sam Kinison" (Comedy Central, 2010-11).
