Biography
Actor-musician Jimmy Dorsey made a splash in Hollywood both on and off-screen for over fifty years. Dorsey's earliest roles were in film, including "The Fleet's In" (1942) with Dorothy Lamour, the Red Skelton comedy "I Dood It" (1943) and the musical "Four Jills in a Jeep" (1944) with Kay Francis. He also appeared in the The Andrews Sisters musical comedy "Hollywood Canteen" (1944). He continued to act in productions like the comedy "Lost in a Harem" (1944) with Bud Abbott, "The Fabulous Dorseys" (1947) and "The Music Man" (1948). Dorsey's music was also featured in "Cookie" (1989) with Peter Falk and "Cool As Ice" (1991) with Vanilla Ice. Dorsey's music was most recently featured in "Playing By Heart" (1998).
