Dave Sheridan
Biography
Biography
Although he's best known for playing the dimwitted Officer Doofy in 2000's "Scary Movie," Dave Sheridan has appeared in numerous films and TV shows throughout his career, including "Ghost World" (2001), "Robot Chicken" (Adult Swim, 2005- ) and "A Haunted House" (2013). He also starred on the MTV prank show "Buzzkill" (1996), a precursor to "Punk'd" (2003-2012), which is often cited as one of the first reality-based series on the music network. Although not a recognizable name to audiences, Sheridan's memorable performance in the original "Scary Movie" has earned him cult status among fans, as well as dozens of film and TV credits.
Born in Newark, Delaware, Sheridan had his first big break in 1996 when he landed a part on MTV's "Buzzkill." The show featured elaborate pranks that were all caught on video. Sheridan was one of three pranksters on the show, which, despite being popular, was cancelled after one season due to mounting legal concerns. Undeterred, Sheridan joined the famed Chicago improvisational troupe Second City, and soon wrote and produced his very own multimedia comedy show, "Dave Sheridan's America." Sheridan's next major opportunity came in 2000, when he was cast as the lovable, albeit not too intelligent, Officer Doofy in the Wayans Brothers hit comedy "Scary Movie." The role proved to be a boon to Sheridan's acting career, and during the ensuing decade he appeared again as a cop in Rob Zombie's ultraviolent thriller "The Devil's Rejects" (2005) and in the lowbrow comedies "Sex Drive" (2008) and "A Haunted House" (2013). In 2013, Sheridan was also featured in the Jeff Garlin-helmed sports-themed comedy, "Dealin' with Idiots" (2013).
