His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the drama "The Wizard of Loneliness" (1988) with Lukas Haas and "Race For Glory" (1989). He also landed a role in the miniseries "Gore Vidal's Lincoln" (1987-88). He also had a part in the TV miniseries "The Kennedys of Massachusetts" (1989-1990). He also lent his distinctive voice to "The Civil War" (PBS, 1990). Dempsey more recently acted in "Mistress" (1992) with Robert Wuhl.
