Biography
Biography
A journeyman actor with over 40 credits since the early 1990s, Pancho Demmings has had a long career playing cops, FBI agents and other uniformed figures of authority on various TV shows and movies. His most famous role was as Gerald Jackson, an assistant to the crime lab's chief medical examiner, on CBS's long-running procedural drama, "NCIS" (2003- ). Although Demmings' character was written off the show in 2005, he spent the ensuing years working steadily, having landed guest spots on "Bones" (Fox, 2005- ), "CSI: NY" (CBS, 2004-2013), and "Cold Case" (CBS, 2003-2010), among several other crime procedurals.
After earning a degree in Economics from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, Demmings set out to become an actor. He landed his very first role as a morgue worker in the 1992 crime drama "Equinox" and followed that up by appearing in 1993's blockbuster thriller, "The Fugitive." By the mid-'90s Demmings was making a decent living playing cops on TV and in the movies, having appeared as uniformed patrolmen on "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" (ABC, 1993-97) and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" (TeenNick/ABC Family/The WB/ABC, 1996-2003), as well as in "Progeny" and "Very Bad Things," both of which were released in 1998. His big break came in 2003 when he was cast as assistant medical examiner Gerald Jackson on "NCIS." Demmings played Jackson for two seasons on NCIS, but his character was eventually written out the show at the beginning of season three. He returned to familiar territory playing uniformed figures on shows like "Bones," as well as the long-running daytime soap "General Hospital" (ABC, 1963- ), throughout the remainder of the decade. In 2013 Demmings nabbed a part in the low-budget crime thriller "The Cheating Pact." Staying true to form, he played a detective in the film.
