Biography

A native of Illinois, Ellen Crawford is a character actress best known for her role on the television series "ER." Crawford began her screen career during the early 1980s, appearing on episodes of popular TV shows such as "Newhart," "Three's Company," and "Riptide." Later in the decade, she was featured on other programs, including "Hill Street Blues," "Night Court," and "Mr. Belvedere," and also had bit parts in feature films, most notably "Teachers" and "Who's That Girl." During the '90s, Crawford continued to appear in one-off spots on numerous shows, including "China Beach" and "Growing Pains," and, in '94, she won a recurring role on the medical drama "ER." Crawford played Nurse Lydia Wright for almost a decade and later returned for the series finale in 2009. Outside of her long run on "ER," Crawford has been featured in episodes of "Diagnosis Murder," "7th Heaven," "Boston Legal," and "Desperate Housewives."
