Arthur Cox was an actor who made a successful career for himself in film. Arthur Cox started his acting career landing roles in such films as the Oskar Werner adaptation "Fahrenheit 451" (1966), the John Thaw action movie "Sweeney 2" (1978) and "Give My Regards to Broad Street" (1984) with Sir Paul McCartney. He also appeared in "Castaway" (1987) and "Hope and Glory" (1987). In the eighties, Arthur Cox devoted his time to various credits, such as "Personal Services" (1987) starring Julie Walters, "Aria" (1988) starring Theresa Russell and "Little Dorrit" with Derek Jacobi (1988). In his more recent career, he continued to act in "The Young Poisoner's Handbook" (1996) with Hugh O'Conor and the dramatic adaptation "Tom's Midnight Garden" (1998) with Greta Scacchi. He also had a part in the TV miniseries "Danielle Steel's" (1992-93). He held additional roles in television including a part on "Doctor Who" (BBC, 2004-). Arthur Cox's distinctive voice can be heard on the "Christmas Carol: the Movie" (2001) film with Simon Callow. Most recently, Arthur Cox appeared in "Jane Eyre" (2006-07).
