Biography
A World War II veteran of both the U.S. Army and the British RAF, actor Ward Costello performed in supporting parts on several mid-20th-century TV series ("Alfred Hitchcock Presents"). It wasn't until the 1970s that he found his first recurring TV role in the crime drama "The Streets of San Francisco," opposite Michael Douglas. Costello's most significant big-screen parts came as Gen. George C. Marshall in the Gregory Peck vehicle "MacArthur" and as a congressman in the 1982 political drama "Missing." Shortly before his retirement in 1989, he had a recurring role as Admiral Gregory Quinn in episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation."
