Biography

English actress Julie Dawn Cole started her career in entertainment as a child. At the age of 12, Cole was cast in the iconic role of Veruca Salt, a nasty young girl, in the 1971 family classic "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," starring opposite Gene Wilder, who portrayed Willy Wonka. During the film's debut in London, the young actress famously presented flowers to Princess Margaret. Cole is known also for receiving a low salary for her work in the film. Cole was the only one of the film's child actors to pursue a career into adulthood. After her work in this film, the actress concentrated primarily on television roles. In 1975, she took on a recurring role in British television drama series "Angels," leaving the show the following year and landing a recurring part in the drama serial "Poldark" in 1977 as a teenager who seduces her sister's husband. Cole has appeared in numerous guest roles in television series, including the comedy shows "The Many Wives of Patrick" and "Married for Life," and the soap opera "Emmerdale Farm." Not content to be bound to television work, Cole has made many stage appearances and pursued a career as a psychotherapist.
