Biography
Actor Matthew Lawler was most commonly known for his roles in television dramas. At the beginning of his acting career, Lawler appeared in various dramas like "Law & Order" (NBC, 1990-2010), "New York Undercover" (Fox, 1994-98) and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC, 1999-). He also appeared in "The Sopranos" (HBO, 2000). He also landed roles in various films, such as the musical "Anything But Love" (2003) with Andrew McCarthy. Several more television roles followed in the early 2000s and the 2010s, including stints on "Hope & Faith" (2003-06), "Boardwalk Empire" (HBO, 2010-14) and "Unforgettable" (2011-16). He also appeared in "Elementary" (CBS, 2012-). During these years, he additionally appeared in film, receiving a role in the Tom Cruise action picture "Knight and Day" (2010). Lawler focused on television in more recent years, appearing on "Hostages" (CBS, 2013-14) and "The Americans" (FX, 2013-). He also appeared in "God's Pocket" (2014). Most recently, Lawler acted on "The Family" (ABC, 2016).
