Biography

Actor Dorian Gregory has taken on a variety of roles during his career, including holding the distinction of being the final host of the beloved and long-running R&B dance party show "Soul Train." Gregory began his acting career in the early 1990s, with small roles on such popular television programs as the beach-set crime drama "Baywatch," Angela Lansbury's "Murder, She Wrote," the classic sitcom "Cheers," and the teen soap "Beverly Hills, 90210." By later in that decade, one-off roles graduated to more substantial recurring parts, portraying the hunky detective Diamont Teague on "Baywatch Nights" and the mysterious Darryl Morris on the supernatural fantasy "Charmed." But by 2003, Gregory had landed his spot as the host of "Soul Train," a music and dance show that spotlighted top R&B, soul, and hip-hop talent, and remained on the show until its final season in 2006, after an impressive 35-year run. Gregory has continued to steadily secure acting roles well into the early 21st century, including the romantic comedy "Deliver Us from Eva" and the TV movie "Getting Played."
