Biography

Best known for his role as Michael Evans on "Good Times," Ralph Carter made his television debut on the popular sitcom in 1974, and went on to appear in 133 episodes over six seasons. While on the show, the young Carter also appeared in the Broadway musical "Raisin," which was based on the Lorraine Hansberry drama "A Raisin in the Sun." When "Good Times" wrapped in 1979, Carter left his TV career behind and pursued music and theater, though he'd resurface on TV sporadically as a musical guest. He developed a nightclub act in the '80s, and built up a solid reputation as a stage performer. He's earned Tony nods and a Drama Desk Award and has released two albums, "When You're Young and in Love" and "Get It Right." In 2006, Carter reunited with the "Good Times" cast at the BET Awards and the TV Land Awards. Three years later, he teamed with former co-star BernNadette Stanis to promote a "Good Times" TV marathon. In between commercial breaks, the two shared behind-the-scenes stories of the fan-selected favorite episodes.
