Biography
James McDonnell was an actor best known for his portrayal of characters throughout various television series. He also starred in the TV movies "The Sitter" (Fox, 1990-91) and "Perry Mason: The Case of the Reckless Romeo" (NBC, 1991-92). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Mad Avenue" (CBS, 1987-88) and "The Ed Begley, Jr. Show" (CBS, 1988-89). He worked in television in his early acting career as well, including parts on "The Young and the Restless" (CBS, 1972-2015) and "Hard Copy" (CBS, 1986-1999). He continued to work steadily in television dramas throughout the nineties, appearing on "Nowhere Man" (UPN, 1995-96) and "John Grisham's The Client" (CBS, 1995-96). He also starred in the TV movies "Tonya and Nancy: The Inside Story" (NBC, 1993-94) and "My Brother's Keeper" (CBS, 1994-95). In his more recent career, he tackled roles on "Family Law" (1999-2002), "Yes, Dear" (CBS, 2000-06) and "Philly" (ABC, 2001-02). He also appeared in "Bones" (Fox, 2005-). He also appeared in the Owen Wilson blockbuster romantic comedy "Wedding Crashers" (2005). McDonnell most recently appeared on "Crossfire Hurricane" (HBO, 2012).
