Biography

Canadian actress Emily Perkins got her start in television at the age of 12, with a series of supporting roles in TV movies, most notably playing the younger version of lead character Beverly Marsh in the miniseries adaptation of the Stephen King horror novel "It." In 1990, she gained her first regular series role in the Canadian family comedy "Mom P.I.," but the series only lasted a single season. Alongside a continuing series of TV guest appearances, Perkins made her film debut in a key role of the juvenile delinquency drama "Past Perfect." Her first starring role came in the werewolf-themed teen horror flick "Ginger Snaps," which she repeated in the film's two sequels as well. Along with small roles in Hollywood films including the Christina Ricci-starring mental illness drama "Prozac Nation," the Arctic murder mystery "Insomnia," the science fiction thriller "Repeaters" and the enormous comedy hit "Juno," Perkins remains a steady presence on Canadian television. For four years, she co-starred on the procedural crime drama "Da Vinci's Inquest." In 2010, she began her highest profile role, co-starring as flighty secretary Crystal Braywood on "Hiccups," a sitcom co-starring and created by actor and writer Brent Butt, best known for his cult comedy series "Corner Gas."
