Biography

Alex Veadov is a Ukrainian character actor who has worked predominantly in English-language productions. The hirsute actor is frequently cast in intense roles, and though he may not be a star, like all excellent bit players he knows how to make his impact in the moments allotted to him. In other words, he knows how to steal scenes. Early on in his career, Veadov landed small parts in films such as "Jackie Chan's First Strike," the science-fiction drama "Contact," and the rip-roaring presidential action romp "Air Force One." He is probably best known for his role as the brutal mobster hitman Vadim Nezhinski in the 2007 crime drama "We Own the Night," starring Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix. The sometimes Shakespearean emotionalism of the film gives Veadov plenty of room to flex his flair for melodrama and intensity. He also co-stars opposite real U.S. Navy SEALS in the 2012 action film "Act of Valor," playing one of the leaders of a terrorist cell bent on unleashing an attack on the States. The actor has also appeared on the hard-hitting cop show "The Shield," on the action/espionage show "Alias," and two episodes of "NYPD Blue." He landed a small but memorable part in the Sam Raimi horror movie "Drag Me to Hell," playing a boisterous Romany.
